You invented rainbow and didn't know it. At the end of the week the local deli put all the odds and ends of ice cream together and called it rainbow.

That last line has me worried too. We didn't have Lik-M-Aid here in Australia, but we had sherbert fizz which was very similar and it had a handy dandy little tube of licorice to do the dipping with.
The present day Lik-M-Aid comes with a little candy stick for dipping. But I'm a purist. Fingers or nothing!
