When
me and Husby celebrate,
Do
we do it on expensive plate?
We’re
simple folk, I hope you know,
Simplicity’s
the way we go.
Not
everyone’s the same as us,
Some
people like to make a fuss.
And
take their gala o’er-the-top,
From
deepest cave to high treetop.
A marriage done while up a cliff
Looking
like some petroglyphs.
The
best that a ‘rock-climbing’ pair
Could
come up with anywhere?
An
anniversary below
Down
twenty fathoms they must go,
To
prove that they still love enough,
To
make it through the tougher stuff.
A
parachute? Now that’s a thing,
Out
of an airplane, both did fling,
And
toasted, hanging in the air,
I
guess they like the view from there?
All
over, people seek the ‘Wow!’
To
spice their mundane lives somehow,
They
run with bulls and hang in pools,
Or
hike the wilds on stubborn mules.
What
is it with our culture now?
Let
me remind you, anyhow,
While
courting ‘unforgettable’,
Try
and keep it from regrettable!

This

Now
this is fun!
Hop

Nice! I have an app that tosses me random lists when I want to practice. It's a great way to stretch your writing!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I'd love to see that app!
DeleteLove that you used your words in poetry form. Very nicely done. Welcome to our group post!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Dawn!
DeleteUsed your words AND wrote a poem? Show off!
ReplyDeleteActually, I find marriage challenging enough at times, don't need to celebrate with challenges too!
Heehee! I so agree. Marriage is enough challenge for me!
DeleteWow, not only did you use your words, you crafted a poem, way to go! Would you jump out of an airplane???
ReplyDeleteOh, Tamara, the only way I would jump out of a plane is if it was on fire. And maybe not even then . . . ;)
DeleteHah! I completely agree with your last verse - but then I am a cautious person to start with :)
ReplyDeleteI know you won't believe it from some of my hair-raising 'younger me' stories, Jenny, but me, too!
DeleteOh my goodness -- what fun was this! A poem and an adventure. You must really be adventurous. I will live vicariously through you LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd I live vicariously through my stories, Carol! I think we're both in trouble!
DeleteOh what fun.
ReplyDeleteAdd me to the keep it simple fans...
We're kindred spirits, obviously, EC!
DeleteYou did a great job with this and I totally agree with you---what's up with all this over the top stuff? I like to keep things simple!
ReplyDeleteSitting back in your own Tiki room. I'm with you!
DeleteSimple is my way to go too. 💛
ReplyDeleteLoved the way you incorporated your words into a poem! You rocked it lady.
Thank you, Jenn!
DeleteA woman after my own heart. I'm a simple girl myself. I chose those words because this coming weekend is my 25th anniversary and where are we celebrating such a grand occasion? Why camping of course! Three days of just old Poochie Bear and I. Hee hee. You are such an amazing talent Diane! Aren't these fun?!
ReplyDeleteNo better way to celebrate your anniversary than with just the two of you out in the quiet. Perfect! This is fun. Thank you for the words. They made me think! :)
