Mr. Sun

I give a smile to Mr. Sun,
With his appearance, Winter’s done,
The green and warmth from him are spun,
As life returns to everyone.

And in his light, with joy, I bask,
Surely, this is all I ask,
To close my eyes and tip my flask,
Forget the snow and Winter tasks.

Ooh. See the sunhat I have brought,
And salves. With burns, I won’t get caught,
I’ll do the things I know I ought,
Cause sun, you know, can be so hot!

So now I’m at the house herein,
Conditioned air that cools my skin,
So tell me why I wear a grin,
When Mr. Sun returns again?

Mondays do get knocked a lot,
With poetry, we three besought,
To try to make the week begin,
With gentle thoughts--perhaps a grin?
So Jenny and Delores, we,
Now post our poems for you to see.
And when you’ve read what we have brought,
Did we help? Or did we not . . .

Come back next week, it won't be hard,
We three will spend time in the yard.

  1. I’m sitting in the sunshine right now. Yes, the sun is wonderful. And I’ll try not to get burned.

  2. Ain't it the truth...we wait and wait for the sun and then stay inside.

  3. LOL!! I'm like that, too . . .

Wonderfully expressed, Diane! My words would not line up and march properly for me this week, but the topic made me think hard!

  4. Yay, for sunshine and spring and poetry. I think they all belong together!

  5. I am decidedly not one of Mr Sun's fans. I like the light, but the sweaty season is not my favourite.

  7. We had our sun disappear this morning, finally and I was so glad to see clouds and rain, but by midday it was sunny and hot again :(
I'm so tired of being hot and sweaty every time I step outside.
I do like your poem though.

  8. What fun! I use to hate summer heat. No I could sit on the deck until I melted, if time allowed!
