Smarter Phone

We make a pair, my phone and me,

We get along (to a degree),

And when it does the things I want,

We sometimes even find detente!

But, sadly, I’m not tech adept,

And even when I think I’ve prepped,

I simply cannot get it to,

Perform the way I want. (Boo-hoo!)

And nothing makes me crazier.

I’d throw it in the brazier,

Except the darn thing cost a lot,

Let’s face it: I’ve no money pot.

And yet, I never leave it home,

I will turn back from where I’d roam,

To have it safely in my purse,

For emergencies…or worse.

And so we struggle on, we two,

At times, I’d make the air turn blue

If cursing was how I expressed,

My discontent or my distress.

In reading this, if you’re concerned,

Something significant I’ve learned,

(I think I’ve known it from the start…)

That only one of us is smart.

Sigh.

  2. My phone and I rarely get along, but I have to admit I love that my kids are always able to reach me, the peace of mind balances out the frustration.

  3. Ah, the eternal dilemma of the phone, in poetry!

  4. Oh Diane, yes yes yes. This is me. Always. My son helps with the phone and I can't live without it. But Yes, it's smarter than me.

  5. There's nothing worse than a technical problem way over my head (which is 90% of them). They make me crazy.

  6. Hehe, I'm smarter than my phone, as it is not a smartphone - I'm too clumsy, dropping it at least twice a week, so dumb-phones for me, please ;)
I love your poem and your crazy rhymes.

  7. I love my iPhone, although I treat it like a camera that can text and make phone calls (so maybe that's why). Many of the apps that come with it are a mystery, so I can identify with you!

  8. I'm not so tech savvy either, so I use my phone for calls and text messages and that's all. Sometimes I even leave home without it.

  9. Cleverly done! Your phone could not rhyme like this, so i think it knows who the smart one is.
